  3. Hmm it appears like your blog ate my first comment (it was super long) so I guess I’ll just sum it up what I submitted and say, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blog. I too am an aspiring blog blogger but I’m still new to the whole thing. Do you have any helpful hints for rookie blog writers? I’d certainly appreciate it.

    1. Thanks for the reply Flis …. The two hurricanes I mention, Matthew and Irma, were exceedingly powerful. The agricultural runoff and devastation from those storms was inevitable. Perhaps even impossible to curtail. But, that being said, farmers were able to house and largely protect their animals. The issue is this: how much effort and strategy is, on a daily basis, being applied to reducing the nitrogen and phosphorus runoff that comes from animal waste and fertilizer? Large buffer zones of up to 30 yards, between waterways and cropped land, can only help. Vastly improving the management practices of the worst offenders is a huge step in the right direction. Nothing will eliminate the Harmful Algae Bloom (HAB) problem altogether. But this will help.
